Child Psychopharmacology for Anxiety, Depression and ADHD

This workshop is intended for professionals who would like a better understanding of current use of medication for common childhood diagnosis. Dr. Lu will provide an overview of the neurochemical effects of medication, efficacy of such therapies, when to refer to psychiatrist, common risks and side affects to be aware of and how best to explain this to parents. This workshop is ideal for social workers, therapists, teachers and others who would like a better understanding of psychopharmacology and the current trends.

This presentation will address such topics as:

  • Key medication used with children and why
  • When to refer a child for an evaluation for mediation
  • Trends in treating children with psychopharmacology
  • Risk of abuse and misuse and how to mitigate
  • Impact of other substances on common medication (mixing pot with stimulants)  

Presented by Dr. Lin Lu. Dr. Lu specializes in Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatry, also has a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology. Her extensive training in both fields leads her to a unique understanding of the mind and body. She believes in people’s potential and strives to develop a personal connection with them. Her holistic approaches and genuine relationship with each patient and family, have contributed to her success in treating various mental health conditions: ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc.
